The recession started in 2008. In September, the Census Bureau will release the first surveys showing some of the impact of the recession on poverty, income and the number of uninsured.
Please join us for a training session about how to use this data:
- to talk about growing poverty and lost income, both nationally and in states and communities, and to make the connection to the steps government should take
- to underscore the need for health care reform
This webinar will give special emphasis to the use of state and local data, so you can talk about the impacts in your state and community.
A New Approach from the Census Bureau:
This year, the Census Bureau will release its data in two parts: mostly national data on September 10, followed by state and local data on September 22. (However, the September 10 release will also include health insurance trends by state.) This training webinar will tell you what you can expect and when, and how to use it. You will get specific tips on how to find the data quickly on the Census Bureau's website, and learn how, with the help of experts from the Coalition on Human Needs and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, you can receive tables and analysis as quickly as possible after the Census data is released.
